Book of the Weekend -- March 7, 2008
My former neighbor and friend Heidi and I have been playing a long game of email tag. "Come to Brooklyn," I say. "Come to Jersey City," she says. And I must admit, it is my turn to go to Jersey City and explore her new-ish neighborhood. I am a big baby when the weather is too hot or too cold, but soon, I think I will be visiting her -- and hopefully, seeing some of her new art work. I own one of her beautiful, whimsical drawings of a queen. And I still have the photo essay she sent of her move to Jersey City with her husband Rick, told through the eyes of her sweet poochie Tigger. Though she couldn't celebrate Bring a Book to Bed Day on the actual day, she did celebrate the week before. The book she chose, "The Principle of Uncertainty" by Maira Kalman is this week's Book of the Weekend!

"I loved this book. I laughed, I cried, I had a hankering to buy a hat."

I love books that make you feel all the emotions -- happiness, sadness, the need to shop! And wait till you see the hats in Italy!
